Getting Started

Corners are gold. A corner cell has only two neighbors, so it overloads at just two dots — cheap to arm, hard to attack. Edges come next, center cells last. In the opening, spread quietly rather than stacking one tall tower: you want several low cells that opponents are scared to touch. And learn the core discipline early — never add a dot to a cell sitting next to an enemy cell that's about to burst, because you're literally loading their explosion with your own pieces.

Advanced Tips

• Build Fuses — Line up your cells so one explosion feeds the next, creating a cascade your opponent can't interrupt
• Count the Criticals — Before every move, check which enemy cells are one dot from bursting and what they'd capture
• Let Them Overextend — A rival spreading thin leaves unstable cells everywhere; be the one who sets them off
• Defend by Proximity — Owning the cells around your big stacks means enemy explosions capture less
• Time the Detonation — The player who triggers the first giant chain often loses it; the one who answers it usually wins

Common Mistakes to Avoid

• Feeding Enemy Bombs — Adding dots beside an opponent's near-critical cell donates your pieces to their chain
• Stacking the Center Early — High-limit center cells eat many dots and repay them slowly
• Triggering Your Own Trap — Exploding too soon scatters your cells into enemy reach
• Ignoring Corners — Whoever owns the corners owns the most stable territory on the board
• Playing Move to Move — Clonium punishes local thinking; every dot should serve a chain you're planning
